> From construction engineering to front-end development to product design — how a non-linear path shaped the way I think about building digital products.

## Hi, I'm Volodymyr

Sr. Product Designer at [Kyivstar.Tech](https://kyivstar.tech/en.html) in Kyiv, Ukraine.

I work on products that help teams and companies communicate, make sense of data, and keep complex operations running.

An engineering background means I design with implementation in mind — not just how things look, but how they hold up.

## Career journey

My path into product design wasn’t linear. I started on the technical side and gradually moved closer to users, products, and strategy. Here’s how that journey unfolded.

### Sr. Product Designer

**Company:** Kyivstar | Kyivstar.Tech

**Period:** May 2020 - Present

Leading design for the Kyivstar API Portal — a self-service platform for messaging and data products used by external partners and internal teams, with focus on developer experience, onboarding, and operational reliability.

### Product Designer

**Company:** Sensogram Technologies, Inc.

**Period:** Aug 2017 - May 2020

Designed mobile and web applications for biosensor-based products, translating complex health data into clear, actionable insights for everyday use. Worked closely with scientists, engineers, and product teams to align technical capabilities with real user needs.

The core of that work was turning continuous sensor output into visualizations people could act on — deciding what to show, at what resolution, and when a reading was meaningful enough to surface.

### UI/UX Designer

**Company:** Kultprosvet

**Period:** Feb 2017 - Aug 2017

First professional design role, working on web platforms while transitioning from development to UX. Brought a developer's perspective to usability decisions — understanding implementation constraints from both sides of the process.

### Frontend Developer

**Company:** Kultprosvet

**Period:** Jul 2015 - Jan 2017

Built production web applications and features, gaining hands-on experience with implementation constraints, performance, and real-world trade-offs. This technical foundation shaped how I later approached design — with an understanding of what happens after the mockup is handed off.

## My Story

Architecture was my first design language — I've always been drawn to turning ideas into structures that exist in the real world. Discovering product design didn't feel like a career switch. It felt like swapping bricks for pixels.

A background in construction engineering taught me to build things that last. Two years in front-end development taught me how software actually comes to life — from the first line of code to production realities. I learned to think in systems, speak the language of developers, and design with implementation in mind.

Today, I bring those worlds together. Not to ship interfaces, but to design systems that hold up — under real users, real scale, and real constraints.
